Gwendolyne L. Walter – Into the Lord’s Care

Gwendolynne L. Walter, 79, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

The daughter of Rev. Harold and Evelyn Konz, Gwen was born on February 1, 1943 in St. Paul, Missouri. She was a graduate of Heidelberg College where she earned her Master’s Degree in Mathematics.

On June 25, 1966 she married Donald Walter with whom she raised her family. A math teacher then homemaker, Gwen was a talented seamstress and was known to make Christmas clothing, Halloween costumes, and Raggedy Ann/Andy dolls for her grandchildren. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies; she never could quite make enough for the family and friends that attended the many birthday and holiday meals and cookouts she would host with her husband. She enjoyed china painting, supporting her children and grandchildren at their various activities and sports (especially soccer), loved Boston Terriers and planning family vacations. Gwen lived her life for her loved ones and the Lord. She was an amazing mother, wife, and friend to all.

She was a member of Linden Road Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and treasurer. Gwen was a volunteer at Kingwood Center and loved boating as a member of Mansfield Power Squadron.

Gwendolynne is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Donald Walter; son Donald (Katrina) Walter, daughters Linda Marie (Sean) Sheldon, and Jackie Lynne (Michael) Shaffer; a step-daughter Rebecca Myers; beloved grandchildren Elizabeth Walter, Donald Walter, III, Evelyn Walter, Calvin Walter, Mason Sheldon, Madeline Sheldon, Jennifer Molton, and Noah Marsh; step-grandchildren Sarah Myers, Susan Myers, Jessica Weaver, Abby Serrano, Anthony Trumpower, and Adrienne Anderson; 14 great grandchildren; her brother Alan (Sue) Konz and sister Gail O’Leary, sister-in-law Shirley Smith, and best friend Claire Scheibner.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Sue Walter and step-daughter Margaret Ann (Walter) Trumpower.

Friends may call Friday, October 21, 2022 from 12-2 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
